How the Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification Can Boost Your Career

Expert Assessor Support, and a Clear Route Toward AM2E

Qualification Title:

City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346-03)

✔ Experienced electricians seeking formal recognition of their skills and competence
✔ Practising electricians looking to strengthen their career prospects through a recognised Level 3 qualification
✔ Skilled workers aiming to progress through the Experienced Worker route, including AM2E

The City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346-03) can be a major career step for electricians who already have solid on-site experience but need formal recognition of their competence. Instead of starting again, it gives experienced workers a structured route to evidence the skills they already use in real working environments.

By completing this qualification, electricians can strengthen their professional profile with a recognised Level 3 electrotechnical qualification based on workplace evidence. This can support better career progression, improve credibility with employers and clients, and help demonstrate competence across key areas such as inspection, testing and commissioning, fault diagnosis, and safe working practices.

The qualification also supports progression through the Experienced Worker route toward AM2E. For many electricians, that makes it an important step in moving from “experienced on site” to formally recognised status — which can open up wider opportunities for employment, contracts, and long-term career development in the electrotechnical industry.

A fancy way of saying it: this qualification helps turn years of practical experience into something the industry can officially recognise on paper, which is often where career momentum really kicks in.
