Required Experience and Suitability
✔ Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience as a practising electrician
✔ Ability to demonstrate knowledge, performance, and competence to Level 3 industry standards
✔ Working in line with the current edition of BS 7671
✔ Access to suitable work activities to produce workplace evidence for portfolio assessment
You must also have:
✔ A relevant Level 2 Technical qualification in Electrotechnical (before registration)
✔ A completed Skills Scan as part of the initial assessment process

Additional Qualifications Required Before Certification Claim
To claim the City & Guilds 2346-03 qualification, you must also complete:
✔ Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2018
✔ Level 3 Award in Initial Verification of Electrical Installations
These can be completed before registering on 2346-03 or alongside it, but they must be completed before certification is claimed.

This is a competence-based qualification assessed through a portfolio of workplace evidence. It is designed for practising electricians with a minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience and is not suitable for new entrants to the industry.
Candidates are supported in gathering evidence against the required units and must complete the qualification through the appropriate pathway: Installation or Maintenance. The qualification forms part of the Experienced Worker route, with AM2E completed separately as the synoptic occupational competence assessment.
