NVQ Level 2 Demolition Qualification Structure
The NVQ Level 2 in Demolition (Construction) is designed for professionals with hands-on experience in the demolition industry, proving their competence in a real-world setting. This work-based qualification provides industry recognition and ensures that candidates meet the National Occupational Standards for demolition operations.
When you enrol in the NVQ Level 2 Demolition assessment and training course, you will be evaluated on both knowledge and practical performance. The assessment process is conducted by an experienced and qualified assessor who will guide you through the requirements, ensuring you have the support needed to achieve your qualification.
This course enables you to showcase your skills, understanding, and expertise in an active workplace environment, proving your ability to carry out demolition tasks within the construction sector.
Demolition NVQ Level 2 Units
Pathway 1 – Demolition and Refurbishment Operative
Candidates must complete four mandatory units and one optional unit.
Mandatory Units:
- Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace – Level 1
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace – Level 2
- Moving, Handling, and Storing Resources in the Workplace – Level 2
- Removing and Segregating Components and Materials in Demolition and Refurbishment – Level 2
Optional Units (choose one):
- Dismantling and/or demolishing masonry and concrete structures – Level 2
- Dismantling and/or demolishing roofs and cladding – Level 2
- Dismantling and/or demolishing timber structures – Level 2
- Dismantling and/or demolishing metal structures – Level 2
Pathway 2 – Plant Operative
Candidates must complete two mandatory units and one optional unit.
Mandatory Units:
- Conforming to General Health, Safety, and Welfare in the Workplace – Level 1
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace – Level 2
Optional Units (choose one):
- Operating plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures up to 15m – Level 2
- Operating remote and/or pedestrian-controlled plant or machinery – Level 2
- Operating demolition skid steer to demolish structures – Level 2
- Operating demolition rigged plant for materials processing – Level 2
This qualification is entirely work-based, meaning there are no exams. Your skills will be assessed through real-world tasks, observations, and a portfolio of evidence.
